Semtech’s BlueRiver® AV Processors can be fully integrated into the end equipment to enable native SDVoE connectivity on both AV sources and displays. The low power and cost of the ASIC footprint not only enables a whole new class of SDVoE products but helps to grow the wider SDVoE ecosystem. With end equipment integration, system costs and complexity are greatly reduced, allowing for better interoperability between manufacturers. Manufacturers can migrate to fully integrated solutions while still providing full backwards compatibility with existing SDVoE product offerings. The ASIC is fully compatible with existing SDVoE products due to the commonality of the SDVoE API: the control protocol that is the heart of SDVoE. SDVoE-based installations can be augmented and upgraded with ASIC-based equipment while continuing to use the existing software control systems, saving on installation cost and downtime. This allows software developers to focus on new and exciting applications, knowing that both current and new SDVoE products are fully interoperable.

Inside the Box with AVP2000T: A Scalable Solution for AV-over-IP End Equipment Integration

The AVP2000T is the flagship device in the BlueRiver product portfolio, providing true transceiver functionality for bidirectional HDMI in a single chip. This enables products such as media servers, which require both HDMI inputs and outputs, to connect to the 10Gb Ethernet SDVoE network using only one physical Ethernet connection, as shown in this diagram. Taking advantage of the full-duplex nature of Ethernet, the AVP2000T-based media server can be streaming uncompressed quality 4K60 video content to multiple displays, while also receiving and recording new or updated content at 4K60 from the network.

Figure 3. AVP2000T supports both copper and fiber 10G Ethernet connectivity, with the highest performance possible when paired with a standard SFP+ optical module.

At only 2.7W power, the AVP2000T can be fully integrated onto PCIe cards for PC-based media servers. As shown in this diagram, only a handful of major components are required to enable simultaneous input and output of HDMI, up to 4K60 4:4:4 in both directions. The AVP2000T supports both copper and fiber 10G Ethernet connectivity, however, the highest performance solution can be realized by pairing the device with a standard SFP+ optical module, for transmission distances of a few hundred meters to 10’s of kilometers.
